    COVID-19 - ACADEMY REOPENING & POLICIES AS OF OCTOBER 19, 2020

Last updated: 10/2/2020 - INDOOR GROUP CLASSES BEGIN SOON - FOLLOWING STATE AND COUNTY GUIDANCE INDOOR MARTIAL ARTS GROUP CLASSES STARTING MONDAY, OCTOBER 19TH

    Dear CKFA family,

Great news! Indoor group classes have been approved by the State and County. CKFA will be phasing out the outdoor classes and by October 19, 2020 all classes will be taught indoors.

However, we all must stay vigilant and keep up with the health practices of washing hands, wearing masks, and staying away from unsafe situations and events of mass gatherings. The pandemic is not over yet.

    Please note the following:

To reserve your spot in a group class:

    • 1. If you have not done so, you must turn in your Student Disclosure and Liability Waiver. Go to your Student Account on Kicksite to fill out the forms and email back to Lo Si at Sifu_Lengyel [AT] concordkungfu.com
    • 2. You must still register for the group classes online, as class size is limited.
    • 3. All safety measures and wearing a mask will still be in effect.
    • 4. Dressingroomswillbeunavailable.
    • 5. There will be limited use of bathroom facilities.
    • 6. Students must be dropped off and picked up outside of the Academy as there will be no indoor waiting area for family members or guests.
    • 7. Once classes are complete, students must exit immediately in order for the training area to be sanitized for the next class.
    • 8. All indoor classes will be simulcast via Zoom in case the class is full and for those students who cannot attend in person due to sensitive health reasons.

We are very excited to be able to resume the indoor classes. We look forward to working together with all of you, and personally giving you that extra “push” in order for you to reach your goals. Time to get up, get out, and get going!

What you will need to resume training:

    • 1. A signed and dated COVID-19 Disclosure (Go to your Kicksite student account to download document.)
    • 2. A signed and dated Membership Addendum and Liability Waiver (Go to your Kicksite student account to download document.)
    • 3. If your program was suspended you must reactivate it.

Your physical fitness and emotional well-being are two things which must be preserved in order to live a healthy life. Being healthy means having a robust immune system. Training in the martial arts is one of the best ways to accomplish this. All of us at CKFA are looking forward to seeing all of you soon. Stay true to our motto, 'Train Harder, Live Better!'

    Respectfully yours,

Lo Si Evelina Lengyel & Sifu Andrew Lengyel

    COVID-19 - ACADEMY REOPENING & POLICIES AS OF JULY 10, 2020

Last updated: 7/10/2020 - REOPENED JULY 1ST - CITY APPROVED OUTDOOR MARTIAL ARTS GROUP CLASSES STARTING MONDAY, JULY 13TH

    Dear students and parents,

CKFA reopened its doors on July 1st for private lessons. Prior to CKFA reopening, Contra Costa Health Services gave us the thumbs up, as long as masks were worn, social distancing observed and all safety and health protocols followed. It was so good to see those of you who came in. Everyone wore masks (some very cool looking ones) and practiced social distancing.

If you have not set up your private lesson yet, email LoSi Evelina Lengyel or Sifu Andrew Lengyel to schedule your private lesson, either at the Academy or online via Zoom.

    Group classes:

July 8th was the target date for group classes to resume. However, we had to hold back offering group classes, as the State and County postponed the reopening of businesses in Phase 3. We immediately started investigating our options. As martial artists we train to be responsive.

We were able to secure approval from the City of Concord and Regency Centers allowing CKFA to hold group martial art classes in the parking lot right next to the Academy! We felt it was our duty to go through the proper channels instead of initiating something and then having it shut down because we were not thorough in the process.

To reserve your spot in a group class:

    • 1. Follow this link to our webpage “Schedule”.
    • 2. On that page, select the link for the appropriate class. You will be taken to our scheduling page. We use Calendly for scheduling the group classes.
    • 3. Select the class day and time you wish to take. You must register under the full student name as written in your Kicksite student account.

Due to the social distancing order and other protocol, limited group classes with a maximum of 10 students per class will be offered. Since class size is limited, please be considerate when booking your spot. More classes will be added as the demand increases.

    COVID-19 - ACADEMY REOPENING & POLICIES

    Last updated: 6/16/2020 - REOPENING

    Dear students and parents,

CKFA is ready to reopen its doors to welcome you back! We sheltered-in-place for three months to keep ourselves and others safe from the COVID-19 virus. However, we are not in the crystal clear yet. We must stay diligent and cautious as we slowly start to resume our lives outside of sheltering-in-place.

    The Plan:

July 1- Training will start with private lessons only. This date adheres to the Contra Costa Health Department’s directive. Online private lessons will still be available if you choose not to take your lesson at the Academy.

July 8 - This is the target date when group classes will be allowed. By this date students should be familiar with all safety protocol required at the Academy.

    COVID-19 - ACADEMY POLICIES

    Last updated: 3/16/2020 - - Statement

    Dear Parents and Students,

Our top priority during this health crisis is to safeguard the health and well-being of our students, family members and staff, as well as the community at large. We all have a social responsibility to take appropriate action to do so. Due to the latest proclamation issued by Contra Costa Health Services, we are suspending all group classes and private lessons until April 7th. The order from the Health Officer is to shelter at home and avoid non-essential travel.

Link to Order of the Health Officer of Contra Costa

As you know, the situation is fluid and can change moment to moment. We will notify everyone by email, posting to our Facebook page and through our website, if anything changes. We encourage students to continue to train to reduce stress, which in turn helps boost your immune system. Go to your Student Account to gain access to a variety of online videos to help with your at-home training. View the videos so you can continue to practice until the academy resumes classes and private lessons. If you have not set up your account, let us know and we will send you the invitation to join.

We ask those of you who are financially able, to continue paying your tuition in order for CKFA to continue paying the instructors and keep the academy going until we resume normal operations. All private lessons will be rescheduled and all programs will receive an extension as appropriate to the length of closure.

“As martial artists we are trained to do the right thing at the right time. Life is giving us a test that will make all of us masters.” - Sifu Terrance Thornton, San Rafael Martial Arts

Throughout all of this, we have been overwhelmed by your support, patience, and understanding. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of our community.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support!

    Sincerely,

Lo Si Evelina Lengyel, Sifu Andrew Lengyel and all the staff at CKFA
